Jim took to art quickly as a young child, where his talents were both acknowleged and encouraged. Moving beyond bedroom walls to more public canvases, Jim’s first professional job as an artist began at the age of 11, when he and his brother Jason created a comic strip for a local newspaper. In his teens, Jim began experimenting with animation and video, attempting to recreate stunts and FX techniques used in his favourite films.
After graduating with an award in Art Excellence, Jim would continue his education in the years that followed, studying Art, Film, and Animation. With over 15 years as a professional artist, Jim has worked in print, advertising, and television. Jim’s background is diverse, from illustrating children’s books to working on integrated ad campaigns, as well as animating interactive banners and Youtube videos. Over his career, Jim has collaborated with a wide variety of clients from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, including Kellogg’s and Hyundai.
Outside of design, Jim’s passion for cinema fuelled his desire to work in film. With an award-winning short film and screenwriting accolades, Jim co-write DONOVAN’S ECHO with Melodie Krieger. Starring Danny Glover and Bruce Greenwood, DE was Jim’s debut as a feature director. The film enjoyed a small theatrical release after a festival run, and has since been available on Netflix, Showtime, iTunes and On Demand.
Jim has also directed the television movies THE LOVING SPOONFUL, RANCHER 101, BEEN THERE ALL ALONG, and IT’S A CHRISTMAS THING, which will all be released in 2023. His second feature film as writer/director is also in development with Minds Eye Entertainment.
